Camp Savuti

Camp Savuti located within Chobe National Park in northern Botswana offers guests a touch of intimacy and comfort without the over indulgence and high price tags that are commonly associated with the area. The Savuti area has developed a reputation over the years as a prime area to view predators, especially lion and spotted hyena and Camp Savuti is at the heart of all this action. The area surrounding Camp Savuti boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent and leaves visitors with outstanding stories and lasting memories.

The Savuti Channel (where the area takes its name), was a flowing river but in 1982 it abruptly stopped flowing. The event was so unusual and mysterious it attracted worldwide attention and was extensively covered by various wildlife documentaries. Then in 2010 the Savuti Channel began flowing once again. Guests to Camp Savuti will have the opportunity to learn the entire story on one of their many game drives.

In 2009 when the Government of Botswana decided to privatize numerous “public campsite” areas, Ren and Connie Mbulawa became the first Botswana citizens to own the camp. Today, Camp Savuti is among the many independent safari camps that offer a more economical approach with an emphasis on personal attention that Wild Safari Africa considers to be a great way to get more bang for your buck.
